Chip Nation is an independently operated community website for rating and discussing chips. This policy explains what information we collect, how it’s used, and your choices.
Who we are
Chip Nation is run independently, not as a registered company. For any privacy question or request, contact contact@chipnation.club.
Signing in with Google
When you sign in with Google, Google provides your email address to our authentication provider, Supabase Auth. Supabase Auth may also retain other profile metadata Google returns (such as your name or profile photo) as part of its own account record. Chip Nation’s own profile data, separate from Supabase Auth, stores only your account ID—we do not copy your Google name or photo into our public profile records.
What we store
- Profile: your account ID, and any optional details you choose to add yourself (such as a handle or self-reported age range—see “Age,” below).
- Reviews: the ratings and comments you submit for chips, which are public.
- Follows: who you follow, used to personalise parts of the site.
- Chip submissions: new chips you submit for our catalogue are private until reviewed, and are checked by an admin before appearing publicly.
- Photos: images you upload (for chips, profile pictures, or Feature articles) are stored in our hosting provider’s file storage. Most uploaded photos are public; chip-submission photos are kept private until a submission is approved.
What’s public
Chip ratings and scores, reviews, handles (if set), and published Feature articles are all visible to anyone visiting the site—confirmed by checking the live, signed-out site directly. Browsing Chip Nation doesn’t require an account.
Age
Chip Nation accounts are for people aged 16 or older. Anyone, including people under 16, may browse the site without an account. We don’t collect birthdates or ask for identity documents, and we don’t verify age. The age-range field in onboarding and your profile is optional and self-reported—leaving it blank is fine.
How long we keep information
We keep account information while your account is active and it is needed to operate Chip Nation. You can request account deletion by emailing contact@chipnation.club. We handle requests manually. Some published content may remain without attribution, and backup copies may remain for a period after deletion. We do not promise a fixed deletion or backup-removal timeframe.
Who processes your data
Chip Nation runs on Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage) and is hosted on Vercel. Both providers process data on our behalf as part of running the site.
